Whether you have kids, a large family, or just simply want the extra room, the third row of seats can definitely be handy to have at your disposal. If this is something that is on your mind while you are on the hunt for a new 2021 Toyota 4Runner, don’t worry, we will break down all of the 4Runner trim levels that have an option for the third row of seats.
Toyota 4Runner SR5
Starting off our list we have the 2021 Toyota 4Runner SR5, which has a 5 or 7 seat option. The starting MSRP is $36,765 and the estimated miles per gallon are 16 in the city and 19 on the highway. This vehicle has Toyota Safety Sense, LED headlights, LED taillights, LED fog lights, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, power rear liftgate, 24-hour roadside assistance, backup camera, and a full-size spare tire.
Since this is the lowest trim level option for the 4Runner, it will not have all of the technology and features that the other trim levels may have, however, if you are looking for something more basic that has a third row of seats, this would be a good option for you.
Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium
At the third trim level, we have the 2021 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium, which has a 5 or 7 seat option. The starting MSRP is $39,825 and the estimated miles per gallon are 16 in the city and 19 on the highway. This vehicle has a Smart Key System with Push Button Start, SofTex-trimmed seats, heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators, heated front seats, Dynamic Navigation, HomeLink universal transceiver, auto-dimming rearview mirror, Toyota Safety Sense, LED headlights, LED taillights, LED fog lights, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, power rear liftgate, a full-size spare tire and more.
This car is more expensive than the SR5, but you do get quite a bit as you go up to the third trim level. In our opinion, it is a good value.
Toyota 4Runner Limited
Going all the way up to the 7th trim level, we have the 2021 Toyota 4Runner Limited, which has a 5 or 7 seat option. The starting MSRP is $45,670 and the estimated miles per gallon are 16 in the city and 19 on the highway. This vehicle has 20 inches split 6 spoke alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, power tilt/ slide moonroof with sunshade, premium audio with 15 JBL speakers, heated and ventilated front seats, X-REAs Sport Enhancement Suspension, front and rear parking assist sonar, perforated leather-trimmed seats, Toyota Safety Sense, LED headlights, LED taillights, LED fog lights, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, power rear liftgate, anti-theft system with engine immobilizer, Tire Pressure Monitor System, a full-size spare tire and more.
Although this is a major jump in trim levels from the SR5 and SR5 Premium, if you are willing to spend the extra money the added and upgraded features are great and will also give your car an elevated feel.
Nightshade Special Edition
Finishing off our list at the 8th trim level, we have the 2021 Toyota 4Runner Nightshade Special Edition, which has a 5 or 7 seat option. The starting MSRP is $47,085 and the estimated miles per gallon are 16 in the city and 19 on the highway. This vehicle has 20-inch black alloy wheels, black exterior accents, “Limited” external hard badges, and emblem overlays, black leather-trimmed interior, dual zone automatic climate control, premium audio with 15 JBL speakers, power tilt/slide moonroof, roof rails, Toyota Safety Sense, LED headlights, LED tail lights, LED fog lights, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, power rear liftgate, a full size spare tire and more.
While this car is not much different than the Limited trim level, it is definitely about personal preference and whether or not you like the blacked-out accents. If that is something that is important to you or you just like having a special edition vehicle, then this may be a good option for you. We happen to be big fans of cars with black accents, however, it is a personal preference and some people may not feel like the extra money for a few black accents is worth it. You may even be able to get your own black accents aftermarket as well.
When choosing a 2021 Toyota 4Runner, there is no easy option. All trim levels have something to offer and generally the higher the trim level, the more the car has to offer. When choosing a trim level, it is best to make a list of the things that you are looking for in a car and what features may be useful to you. Once you have done this, it may be a little easier to narrow down which trim level makes the most sense for you.
